Baby Weaning, Baby Food!

Baby S has been a fully breast fed baby since birth and at about 5 months old, we decided to start her with some solids!

Starting solid with baby begins with allowing them to try and see if they are alright with the food. We started with basic baby cereal which you can easily get from NTUC, iherb or any shop which sells baby food!

I give baby S this! Brought from iherb.

Then we give her some plain porridge and pure puree. Once she is better with eating, we give her a mixture of puree with cereal or porridge with veggie!

1) Potato and Broccoli Mash

2) Pumpkin, Carrot and Potato Purre

3) Fish Porridge

Ingredient: 4 Tablespoon of (uncooked) rice + 1 small slice of salmon + 2 stalk of baby spinach.

Method:

1. Bring water to boil in a small pot.
2. Once boil put in the salmon to cook.
3. Once salmon is cooked, put in the rice and continue boiling.
4. Finally put in the baby spinach (finely chopped) and cook the the texture you want.
* The longer you cook the softer the rice is and the more puree the texture is.

To prevent fussy eater, I will make sure that baby s eat a wide range of food and if she choose not to eat; dislike, then what I will do is I will let her stop and only give her food again 2hrs later and I will ensure I will give her the same food. After a bit she will be willing to try and eat anything. =)

Now she is a happy eater and she loves food!

Swim Baby Swim

We have started to expose baby S to the water when she was 4 months old. At the beginning, it was purely to expose her, but after we see how she loves the water, even on cold cold weather, it then becomes a routine and something that we look forward to each week!

Now, we bring her to swim almost every Monday, when Stanley don't work and I will do my best to end school on time and head back to bring her to swim in the evening at about 4p.m. to 5p.m..

We always swim at my parents' condo which is literally a stone throw away from our place. Seeing her smile and hearing her laughter during each swimming session is what makes us bring her back every Monday, no matter how tired we are!

To expose a baby to water, always start slow, carry them and walk in slowly; allowing them time to get use to the temperature and the sensation of the water against their skin. Give them time and space to explore and splash! Make swimming fun for them with toys and songs!

Baby S in her Swim Suit!

Tips: Buy Baby swim suit that are bigger in size but with halter neck so that they can wear it for a longer period of time!

The first few time when she swim with just swim diaper as we have not got the swim suit yet.

Swimming is part of sensory play.

It is great family bonding!

Good physical activity for baby too!
